About the Journal

University Chemistry, founded in 1986, is an educational research academic journal supervised by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and jointly sponsored by Peking University and the Chinese Chemical Society. The journal aims to promote the deepening of reforms in university chemistry education and to enhance the quality of chemistry teaching in China. Its readership includes university chemistry teachers, graduate students, undergraduates, high school chemistry teachers, secondary school students with a strong interest in chemistry, as well as administrators and professionals in the field of chemistry education. The journal is indexed in several major databases, including Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Database, Taiwan Huayi Database, Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database (full-text edition).

Main Columns and Content Requirements:

  1. Chemistry Today: This column publishes popular science articles. It      introduces current research developments, trends, and advances in      chemistry and its related interdisciplinary fields to university chemistry      educators, chemistry undergraduates, and high school students with a keen      interest in the subject. Authors should be well-versed in the research of      the topic they review, possess a broad academic perspective, and provide      content that is novel, systematic, and accessible.

  2. Study and Reform of Chemical Education: This column explores key      issues in the reform of chemistry education in higher education, offering      insights on foundational and leading problems in chemistry teaching. It      also exchanges experiences in teaching reform and curriculum development,      discusses difficulties and key areas in teaching, and introduces new      teaching content and methods. Submissions should be problem-oriented, with      innovative and advanced viewpoints grounded in practical experience,      avoiding vague discussions or speculations.

  3. Survey of Chemistry: This column focuses on new knowledge and      developments in chemistry, including theoretical, practical, and applied      aspects. Submissions should ensure accuracy of concepts, conciseness of      language, and depth of coverage. The content should be thought-provoking,      avoiding repetitive material from other publications.

  4. Chemical Laboratory: This column covers experimental teaching objectives,      standards, and assessment research; new experimental designs and      improvements to existing experiments; the application of modern      instruments and equipment in experiments; and new experiences in      laboratory management. Submissions should offer fresh perspectives,      detailed content, reliable data, and practical verification. The      experiments should be feasible, easy to promote, and meet safety,      environmental, and green standards while helping to cultivate students' experimental      and research skills.

  5. Between      Teacher and Student: This column encourages the exchange of learning      experiences, the exploration of problems that inspire creative thinking,      and the introduction of problem-solving methods. Submissions should be      closely related to teaching, with a clear theme and easy readability.

  6. Self-Studies: This column      publishes analyses of difficult topics, special tutorials, and practical      tips. Submissions should present clear viewpoints, focus on one issue per      article, and be concise and impactful.

  7. Future      Chemist: Aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, this column      includes reflections on foundational chemistry knowledge and experimental      techniques, as well as literature reviews or minor inventions related to      the course content. Articles should offer unique insights, be      thought-provoking, and follow standardized formatting.

The journal also features columns on Chemical Olympiad Competition, Chemistry History, Chemistry Education-International.
