闡明分子結構,分子間相互作用,和分子間能量傳遞是理解各種化學現象,材料性質,和生命科學的基礎。傳統的分子表征手段,如質譜,核磁共振,和X射線衍射,由于自身的限制對自然界裡很多物理化學過程的探測有極大的局限性。如何創造新技術,尤其是利用超快激光在空間上,時間上,和能量态上全方位解析宏觀材料和生命現象背後隐含的分子的基本結構和動力學過程是當今化學和物理研究的一個共同難題。
